Bellevue

To Pictures

Bellevue, in north central Ohio, is the site of Norfolk Southern's (ex-Nickel Plate) classification yard. Bellevue is the junction of NS Lake Division's Cleveland, Fort Wayne, and Toledo Districts (all ex-NKP) and Sandusky and Columbus Districts (ex-PRR).

The Wheeling & Lake Erie also comes into Bellevue via the connection at Yeomans, east of town, and has trackage rights over NS to Toledo, Huron, Parkertown, and Flat Rock.

This page carries photos of NS and WLE trains at Bellevue, and also may include photos at Kimball, Yeomans, Klines, Clyde, and Frank, and at Attica Jct.

We have posted a Bellevue Map page and a Bellevue Facts page to help railfans know where to park and shoot while visiting this busy terminal.

You also are invited to view the Bellevue Museum page on the Train Order Classics web site which covers much of the collection at the Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum in Bellevue, a place well worth visiting when you are in the area.

One key rule for train watching at Bellevue: PLEASE DO NOT go into Bellevue Yard; that will get you into trouble. Otherwise there are no particular problems for railfans anywhere at Bellevue (except the lack of "facilities" near the tracks).

You also should not stop on or near, or walk out onto, the Ohio Route 4 bridge over the east end of the yard. There are no sidewalks on the busy bridge, and the Ohio Highway Patrol takes a very dim view of pedestrians (railfans) out there.
